Gayla then decided, after her music career that growing her education was the next phase of life, so she went off to the University of Central Oklahoma to study Business which has served her well in the corporate world. She has been blessed to help grow multimillion dollar companies as well as advancing her corporate standing. Today she is the CEO of 2 companies and her passion is to help people. But music was not done for her, several years later she moved to Dallas, TX, where she ventured out into a new direction as a solo R&B artist. During that time, she managed to work with such artists as Joe, Tony Thompson, Carl Thomas, Dave Hollister, and many others.

During her performance in 1995 with Tony Thompson of the group High Five, she was approached by a representative of Geffen Records, who invited her to NYC to record a 3 track demo to present to Geffen Records. Shortly, after the completion of the demo she was introduced to David Geffen and the negotiations began. Unfortunately, she was called to return home due to family related concerns and that opportunity was lost.

While in NY, things were happening for her. While developing the demo for Geffen Records, Gayla was featured at the well known celebrity restaurant “Chaz and Wilson’s,” where she was approached by Ron Grant of Sony Music. Mr. Grant invited Gayla to his Sony office the next day to discuss a possible girl group record deal. During negotiations Mr. Grant offered Gayla an opportunity to tour Japan for 5 weeks later that year, with his band featuring Cheryl “Pepsi” Riley. She was unable to turn it down and gladly accepted.

Upon returning home to her surprise even more opportunities came her way. Geffen representatives continued their pursuit of record deals and contracts abroad. Later, contacting her with as many 16 recording and performance contracts for her to review. But family came first.

But her passion to sing lived on. In October 2006 opportunity struck again. Gayla who would sparingly perform in various places, was asked by a youth minister/friend of hers to sing at small a church in Dallas she had attended that day; which left her hesitant to except because of the impromptu request. She excuses herself for a moment to pray for direction. God gifted her heart with a song “Amazing Grace. “ During her performance something happened. She describes it as an out of body experience. Overwhelmed by the Holy Spirit and her face covered in tears, she opened her eyes as she completed her song; Gayla was taken aback by the entire congregation who were up on their feet giving her overwhelming hand praises. Immediately following her epiphany, she ventured home to pray about it and received 3 separate messages over 3 days from God that it was time for her to go back into the ministry. She, shortly after that was introduced to a very talented local producer, who blessed her with an opportunity of a lifetime by offering to do the complete project for free. This break confirmed her purpose and the birth of her new solo project entitled, “He Did It For Me”, which she co-wrote and co-produced.

Now it's time to share the experience of her lessons with heartfelt stories and testimonies by paying tribute to God's power and guidance. Gayla possesses one of the most unique voices in contemporary gospel music today. Marvel at her masterful blend of lyrics and sound, which creates a musical event that will echo the passion of Yolanda Adams and the smooth rhythm of Mary Mary.   Listen to her phenomenal new sound; it will warm your heart and ignite your spirit. By God's wishes, Gayla is stepping from the shadows into light with this amazing new CD entitled "He Did It For Me."
